Honestly, I have the worst skin any 20-year-old can have. You may think that’s an exaggeration and the truth is, it probably is, but it’s still really REALLY bad. I have a lot of acne marks and I break out really easily. My marks are very prevalent because I’m brown so they are like deep muddy chocolatey brown. 😂😣
Oh, and well, everything triggers my face! Everything! I have really oily sensitive skin so I need to take care of my skin and treat it with love and time which I rarely have. LOL! But, I have nevertheless devised a somewhat perfect-ish skin care routine that seems to be working. Though, I hope I didn’t just jinx it!😣🤔
On mornings I use the Bioré Deep Pore Charcoal Cleanser and wash my face with warm water so that I can really open up the pores and clean it up and then splash some cold water to close my pores. Whilst, on evenings, I use the Bioré Baking Soda Cleansing Scrub to begin my evening skin-care routine.
During the day, when I’m wearing make-up, I usually use Elta MD UV Clear SPF 46 sunscreen which was recommended by my dermatologist. But, when my 2nd bottled had finished, I was finding it hard to locate one and so I am currently using a Cetaphil Daily Facial Moisturizer with Sunscreen SPF 50+. However, I find this to be very heavy, so I don’t recommend this one. But, I am using it out until it’s time to get back the Elta MD. Cetaphil is too expensive to waste. WARNING: Elta MD is even more expensive but totally worth it as it is fit for acne prone skin and contains Zinc Oxide. It’s great for lightening my marks!
These days, I’m taking a break from make-up (I use Clinique products) and during the day I simply use the Cetaphil sunscreen and my favourite moisturizer ever, the Garnier SkinActive PureActive Anti-Blemish Soothing Moisturizer for sensitive skin with imperfections. This product is magical! It feels really light and soothing on the skin and smells so wonderful. My face usually gets really oily during the day when I use the Cetaphil sunscreen, but I have to stick with it for now until I get back the Elta MD which I use alone during the day.
To remove my make-up, I use Clinique take the day off make-up remover. However, the one I use is a make-up remover for lids, lips and lashes. But, I use it for my whole face. LOL, rebellious AF! I wipe my face with this product with a cotton ball and then I cleanse my face with one of the cleansers mentioned above and then tone with my Garnier Simply Essentials Soothing Vitamin-Enriched Toner. Another favourite of mines! It’s the best toner with no alcohol according to me.
At nights, once, I have cleansed and toned, I use a MD 2 Advanced High Potency Skin Refinish, which was again recommended to me by my dermatologist. This product is for evening skin tone, minimizing pores and controlling breakouts. And then I top that off with my Garnier moisturizer.
Whenever I have breakouts, I like to dot some Tea Tree Oil over the spot. I find it’s really good for drying up the acne spots and it lasts such a long time because all you need is a dot on each spot.
And so, that’s it for my skin care products. My routine isn’t foolproof which is why I didn’t clearly lay out what I do on mornings and on evenings in point form. I am just giving you an idea of the products I use for my sensitive, oily skin.
Have a blessed weekend everyone. Mines started today hehehe!
